Once again, Bank St. in beautiful, downtown New Milford will be reserved solely for pedestrian traffic on Sunday, Oct. 7th from noon to 5 pm for Harvest Fest. Over the last three years, thousands of people have come out for this event. Hosted by The Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce, there will be live music, dance, and various activities throughout the day. | |
Since it's Election Day and the kids are off from school, why not join R&B for back-to-back showings of Toy Story and Wreck-It Ralph at the Bank St. Theater? As we are a not-for-profit organization, proceeds will benefit continued program development and students in need of financial aid. The movies begin promptly at 9:30 am. Tickets cost $15/person and include admittance to BOTH films, a popcorn and a soda. While walk-ins are welcome, we ask that you please email us at woodyandralph@roboticsandbeyond.com to reserve your tickets. R&B Fall Program Update
|
| |
| |
1) Tuesday and Thursday After School Robotics: These programs have SOLD OUT and because so many of you were disappointed at not being able to participate, we've decided to expand this program to 4 days a week (Mon.-Thurs.) in the Winter/Spring Session beginning in January. Registration for all Winter/Spring programs will open in early December.
2) Software Engineering Lab (SEL): This program for students in grades 8-12 (or ages 12-18) successfully launched this past week. It was a joy to see so much excitement and enthusiasm for this program from both our students and their parents! We accept a maximum of 12 students in the SEL and currently have 8 enrolled. SEL students may either join us on Wednesdays from 6-8 pm or on Fridays from 4-6 pm over the course of 6 months ... and as far as we're concerned, it's never too late to join the SEL party! Please visit here for further details and to submit your online application.
3) Homeschool Classes: Because the scheduling of our on-site class offerings were not conducive to so many homeschoolers' hectic schedules, especially for those of you who were coming from far and wide, we've revamped our offerings to better suit your needs! We are now offering custom classes for groups of up to 10 students running anywhere from 10-30 weeks and custom workshops 90 minutes-3 hours in length for up to 20 students. With so much flexibility, your choices are boundless! While we always prefer to host programs at our New Milford location, we realize that this is not often an option for groups with geographically scattered members. So, provided you can come up with a dedicated space for the duration of a program, we are happy to come to you ... it's R&B on the road! We are currently running two 26 week-long 'Technology & Micro Controller' programs for groups in Wilton and West Hartford. For class suggestions and ideas, visit this link . For a description of our currently offered workshops, visit this one. And remember, if there's something specific you have in mind, let us know what it is and we'll gladly work with you to make it happen!

1) Minecraft Nights are so ON! Starting Friday, October 19th, R&B will be hosting 3 hours of Minecraft madness on our own, designated server for kids 11 and older. Join us the 3rd Friday of each month from 6-9 pm. The cost is $30/person and includes pizza and soda from our friends at All Aboard Pizzeria and any other snacks you want to bring and share. This is sure to be one of our most popular programs and since we max out at 10 participants, it is strongly recommended that you don't delay ... register today.
2) And just so the younger set doesn't feel left out, R&B is now hosting BIRTHDAY PARTIES for children ages 7-11. We have partnered with All Aboard Pizzeria to provide your birthday boy/girl with 90 minutes of Robotics And Beyond build, battle & race time AND pizza, soda & ice cream for up to 10 party-goers. For additional details contact us at birthdays@roboticsandbeyond.com.
3) Did you know that we are certified Scout Merit Badge Counselors for Computers, Electronics, and Robotics? We are currently working on our offerings for these merit badges, but are happy to hear your thoughts and suggestions and to work with individual scouts and/or troop leaders who would like to help us put a program in place. Please email us with questions or suggestions at meritbadges@roboticsandbeyond.com.
4) Something else in the works: R&B has been approved by the CT State Department of Education as an accredited provider of teacher professional development credits (formerly referred to as CEUs). More to come on this in our December Quarterly Newsletter as we plan to offer professional development classes beginning in early 2013.
5) Keep us in mind for the holidays! R&B will have gift certificates available for purchase in time for Black Friday. They'll make great stocking-stuffers for the kids!
