Program:  After School Robotics & Open Studio Thursday
When:       This program is not currently scheduled but can be offered upon request.
Where:      New Milford, CT
Ages:        8-17
Cost:         $320.00

Students will have 15 weeks to attend 12 classes, allowing for illness and vacations. Attendance at more than 12 classes is possible at the same per-week cost of $28/class. (see below) The cost is higher than the Fall semester because of the 2 extra classes.

Students will have 2 hours of problem solving, creativity, interaction with peers and fun using various materials, electronics and computers like LEGO robotics, graphic design software, circuit boards, flight simulators, PVC pipes, electronic equipment for dissection, or the student's own project such as for science fairs. Students also have the opportunity to expand to higher level programming languages, applications and electronics or other projects. Students who participated in a prior After School or Summer Camp program with us will be offered different or more advanced projects based on their interests.

For students in grades 7-12, the same opportunities apply but additional projects will be available or they can have Open Studio time to design and develop independent projects (such as for science fairs) or work collaboratively with peers.

The After School Robotics/Open Studio program is designed for students in grades 3-12, or for younger students who have already attended the program or our summer camp. However, even if younger students have attended the program or camp, they are welcome to join the Wednesday STEM program for a wider variety of projects geared toward younger ages.

Costs: The $325 fee applies to 2 hours of class time, once per week, for attendance on 12 days. Therefore, you have 15 weeks to attend for 12 classes on the day you register for. Students can attend extra classes (on their day) at a cost of $28/day. We expect to have some funding for tuition help, so feel free to ask.

Where We Are and How To Get Here: Our office is conveniently located at 30 Bridge St. (the corner of West and Bridge streets) right at the railroad tracks in the downtown area. For all New Milford schools except for Northville, parents can arrange with the schools for children to be dropped off by school bus at our location. Busing from Northville is not available as those children are carried primarily north of town. We personally collect JPS and Hill & Plain students at the bus stop (generally about 3:30). SNIS students are brought into our parking lot right to the main door at about 3:45 and students walk up by themselves as a group. Schaghticoke and high school students are let off in front of the building about 2:40 and walk to our entrance.

Parents must provide a letter with specific information to the child's school. Instructions for the letter are below. If you have further questions, please contact your child's school or email us at info@roboticsandbeyond.com. Once the series of classes is over, parents must again provide a letter to the school canceling the need for drop off at 30 Bridge St.

Pickup Time: Pickup time is approximately 2 hours after your child arrives. Arrangements can be made for a later parent pick-up time, at an additional charge of $12/hour. This must be prearranged except in unexpected situations. 6pm is the latest pickup time except by prearrangement or unexpected situations. Please contact us at info@roboticsandbeyond.com with questions.

Calendar: We follow the public school calendar. On days of early dismissal, no class is held but we usually do hold Open Studio time on these days as a separate offering or students can use it as one of their 12 class days. There will be no After School Robotics on days of early dismissal for weather. However, sometimes elementary schools are open while Middle or High School is closed or on early dismissal so you must be aware of your school calendar.
