| Program: Sound Off! Level 1 or Level 2 When: This program is not currently scheduled Where: New Milford, CT Ages: 8+ Cost: $20.00 | |||
| Level 1: Did you know that sound is caused by a bunch of air molecules packed closer together than normal? You will create a sound pulser (and take it home) that makes a single wave of sound that you can feel 10 feet away. You will see how a slinkey can show you how air molecules get packed together and travel as a wave. You will learn much more very fun and interesting things and never think about sound or your ears the same again.................
Level 2: Think those ear-buds growing out of your ears don't affect your hearing? Think the volume of your music can't cause permanent hearing damage? Think you know something we don't? Join us for some interesting facts and discussion about the physics of sound and how your ears hear. WARNING: you WILL be exposed to very loud music for a short time during this class. Students will also answer some questions that encourage them to think about their own experiences and assumptions about the effects of very loud noise and sound. And remember, young people aren't the only ones at risk for hearing loss from noise or loud music! We will gladly arrange classes geared to parents-only. Maximum cost for families is $60. | Program: Computer Build When: This program is not currently scheduled Where: New Milford, CT Ages: Cost: TBD | |||
| Take the mystery out of computers! Learn the fundamentals of computer science by designing and building your own computer, whether for gaming, general use or programming projects. We have built many computers from the motherboard up and made some pretty funky case designs, as well. You will learn basic system components, specifications and compatibility, as well as associated costs, and where best to purchase parts. Learn how to assemble all of these components into a working computer and save some money along the way. Custom builds can cost as little as $200-300 (and up to $1000+ depending on the desired performance and the availability of parts). | |||

| Program: Careers In STEM When: This program is not currently scheduled Where: New Milford, CT Ages: 12-21 Cost: TBD | |||
| The world of careers in all of the STEM and design disciplines is confusing and a mystery to most high school students and many parents. Many guidance personnel in our schools do not have the experience or time to bring adequate awareness and understanding of the many careers and education paths in these fields. Robotics And Beyond educators have knowledge of careers in all STEM fields, have years of industry experience, have corporate contacts in related STEM fields, and can provide information on a wide range of educational paths including trade schools, 2- & 4-year degree programs, and graduate schools. We offer private appointments at flexible times to discuss general or specific questions on school and career paths. We hope to provide a series of seminars focused on STEM education and career opportunities. | |||
